This platform, operated by the Durban University of Technology in collaboration with Microsoft, complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa.

1. Purpose of Data Collection

We collect limited personal data such as your name, email address, and learning activity to:

• Enable your access to AI training resources
• Track your learning progress and certification status
• Send training reminders and platform updates (with your consent).
  Note: The option to unsubscribe from non-essential communication will be available soon in your Profile settings.

2. What Data We Collect

• Personal details: Name, email address
• Activity logs: Courses accessed, videos watched, quizzes completed
• Technical data: Device type, browser, login timestamps

3. Data Sharing

Your information may be shared with authorised educational and program partners such as DUT and Microsoft, strictly for the purpose of reporting, support, and improvement of the programme.

In some instances, we may share aggregated or anonymised data that cannot be used to identify you personally, for research, analytics, or funding reports.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to any third parties.

4. Your Rights Under POPIA

In accordance with POPIA, you have the right to:

• Access your personal information held on our systems
• Update or correct your personal details
• Withdraw consent for non-essential communications
• Request the deletion of your data, subject to applicable institutional or legal retention requirements

Your data is retained only as long as necessary to support your learning journey, fulfil programme reporting obligations, or comply with applicable legal requirements.

6. Cookies and Tracking

This site uses cookies, local storage, and analytics tools to improve your experience and enhance platform performance.

• Session cookies: Manage secure logins and preserve learning progress.
• Local storage: Used to remember your in-browser milestone celebrations and prevent repeated pop-ups. No personal or sensitive data is stored in local storage.
• Google Analytics: Used to collect anonymized usage data. IP addresses are anonymized before processing in line with privacy best practices.
• Server logs: IP addresses and activity are logged internally for security, error tracking, and performance monitoring.

You can disable cookies and browser storage via your browser settings. However, some features such as login and milestone tracking may not function correctly.

7. Opting Out & Account Deletion

You may unsubscribe from email reminders at any time by visiting your Profile and clicking Unsubscribe.
You may also delete your account by clicking Delete Account on your Profile page. This will permanently remove your data unless it is required for reporting or legal compliance.
